7 WAYS TO MARKET YOUR WEBSITE

Written by Tim Jones, CEO + Founder | Jan 26, 2018 12:15:00 PM

You've got your beautiful new website, it's optimized to convert traffic to leads, the copy is compelling, but wait...

You launched your site, but you're not getting tons of traffic? No visitors by the droves? Isn't your phone ringing off the hook? (For the younger folks you're not getting a ton of call notifications)

But, "Field of Dreams" was such a great movie. If they'll come when Kevin builds it, they should come for you too. Right?

Not at all. Here's the reality. Maybe the folks who built your site don't do the marketing part also. Maybe you've just been too busy to do it or you don't know how.
If you're a small business owner, maybe you're just overwhelmed with other tasks. Maybe you just need to be pointed in the right direction because you don't know where to start.

Well if you need a little help, you've come to the right place. Here are a few tips to make sure that you are successful in getting more traffic and marketing your website.

1. Traditional Media

Keep it simple. Be sure to add your website to all of your traditional advertising. If you have business cards, add it to them. If you run a radio or TV Ad make sure to include your website.

2. Company Procedures

Make sure that you use your website internally. Your staff should know it. Provide your website as a resource.

Share in your customer engagement wherever it makes sense. Like, including your website on the storefront window with the company hours.

3. Web Design

Optimize your site for lead conversion and an optimal user experience. Create a good first impression with a professional well-planned design.

Use clear labels and prove good direction with effective calls-to-action. Make sure that your site is mobile friendly.

4. Electronic Media

Add your web address to your email signature. Don't forget to add it to your smartphone email signature as well.

Be sure to announce your website to your community whenever you launch it or make updates.

You should include, friends, family, clients, prospects and even past clients and prospects.

5. Online Advertising

There are two simple answers here; pay for traffic through Google or social platforms like Facebook, and list your site on free directories.

Having incoming links is a solid way to improve your site's ranking in Google. You can also do an online contest to do a giveaway for a specific product or service.

6. Social Media

You should have a business page on several social platforms. Keep your audience in mind above yourself. You want to use the platforms that your audience is already using.

It's easier to go to a crowd than to move a crowd to a new location. Use social media to promote your website updates, blogs you've written, new services offerings, and news about your company and your industry.

7. Community & Events

Don't forget to stay connected and engage people in real life. We often get so caught up in digital things that we forget to connect with people beyond the internet.

Join an association or networking group. Join your local Chamber. Schedule coffee or a phone call with your online connections.

Don't forget that people often work with people they like.

Final Tip

Think about everything that you can or do give out to people that are connected to your business. Can you add your web address?

Your website should be listed everywhere you can. Now don't get crazy with it. Keep in mind how many times it makes sense to list it somewhere.

There's no need to list it more than twice on your business card. Once per side is more than enough.

A brochure may need it listed more than twice, where a video should have it listed all throughout.

What else can you put your website's address on for people to see?
